Karlsruhe’s ambitious roadmap

"For us, the environment is a core value, just like safety or quality, and every employee makes a formal commitment to respect it," says Pierre Haller, Plant Director. In 2013, in keeping with this spirit, the plant established a roadmap to improve management of its water and waste strategies.

The projects to be undertaken are identified and prioritised using a very precise mapping. The project ideas have come from employees as well as from suppliers, the Research division or management. This systematic, comprehensive approach is constantly updated, providing a clear vision of the objectives and how to reach them. Thanks to this roadmap, the plant will be able to cut its water consumption and waste generation in half by 2015, in line with the objectives the Group set in 2005. Meanwhile, the goal of halving CO2 emissions has already been surpassed, with a 77% reduction between 2005 and 2014.
