For the past few years, the Yichang plant in China, which specialises in make-up production, has been pursuing innovation to improve its energy performance and cut its CO2 emissions. This ambitious strategy has reduced the site’s energy consumption by 33% in 10 years, empowering it to achieve LEED Gold certification. Through the use of hydropower, the leading source of renewable energy in the region, the Yichang plant has been 100% electric since September 2015, reaching carbon neutrality.
